What to expect after round face plastic surgery?

Plastic Surgery

If you have a round, “baby-faced” look, despite being at a normal weight or despite losing weight, chances are you naturally have larger buccal fat pads. This is hereditary. Removing the buccal fat pads can give a slimmed down look to the face, and the results are very natural looking. What can you expect after the procedure

Side effects of round face plastic surgery

Buccal fat pad removal is a relatively simple procedure compared to many other types of plastic surgery. Still, there are some side effects that can be expected. These include redness, swelling, and some mild pain. All of these are a normal part of the healing process.

Buccal fat pad removal—after the procedure

Immediately after the procedure, you will be given your care instructions. You will still be numb from the local anesthesia. You will be able to go home the same day.

Once home, use an ice pack on the cheeks to help minimize swelling. You can also sip on ice water to further help keep swelling to a minimum. Also, to prevent swelling and associated pain, sleep upright for a few days after the procedure.

Swelling usually lasts around a week. You may be given a chin strap to wear to help with skin healing properly during the recovery period.

Diet after buccal fat pad removal

Because the incisions made in round face plastic surgery occur within the mouth, you will need to adjust your diet. Stick to liquids and soft foods only for about 4-5 days after the procedure, or as long as your doctor advises. Avoid anything that could irritate your incisions, such as anything too salty, spicy, or sour. Ensure that food pieces are cut small. Good foods to have on hand in preparation for surgery include:

Smoothies

Soups with very soft ingredients (soft vegetables or finely shredded meat)

Mashed potatoes

Bananas

Well-cooked vegetables

Well-cooked macaroni or rice

Yogurt

Scrambled eggs

When deciding on foods, keep in mind that you want to do minimal chewing so as not to irritate the inside of your mouth. Follow your body’s lead and stick to what you can comfortably consume.
