How to Make Lip Fillers and Botox Last Longer than usual?

Lip Fillers

Botox is an amazing anti-aging treatment, providing months of youthful-looking skin. And lip fillers can get your lips looking perfectly plump. However, they lose effectiveness over time, and you’ll need to go in for reapplication every few months.

How can you ensure your results look fresh the entire time and even stretch out the time between appointments? One way is to choose your provider carefully. Having a good healthcare professional perform your injections can mean your fillers or Botox last that much longer. Aftercare is essential as well; here are some tips.

  • How do you maintain lip fillers?
  • Do lip fillers last longer the second time?
  • Why does my LF not last long?

Immediately afterward: Lip fillers before and after

Your aftercare starts immediately after your injections. With Botox, you want to make sure you’re not rubbing or roughly touching your face for 24-48 hours after your injections. If you do, you risk your Botox migrating to other parts of the face. Avoid strenuous activity for a few days after your injections. With lip fillers, you also will need to avoid rubbing your lips afterward. Your doctor will have placed the filler in the perfect spots for an even look; rubbing can cause the filler to move to places you don’t want it to.

Maintain a good skin care routine

Botox and fillers are great for intensive help, but there’s still work to be done between appointments. Taking good care of your skin will ensure it stays in top shape. Start with cleansing your skin, then apply moisturizer. One with hyaluronic acid is best as it will keep your skin deeply hydrated. And of course, a critical part of your skin care regimen is sunscreen, which we will discuss further in the next section. For lips, hydration is important too. A good lip balm applied daily will help keep your lips from getting dry. A gentle lip exfoliator may also be used as needed (generally just once every 1 to 2 weeks) to help keep lips soft and smooth and slough off dry skin.

Practice good sun care

To make your lip fillers and Botox last longer, you will need to practice good sun care protocols. Wear sunscreen every time you go outside during the day, even in the winter, and even if you’re just going out for a short time. When swimming or participating in heavy physical activities or sports where you’re sweating, wear appropriate sunscreen (waterproof or sweatproof) and reapply sunscreen as needed. For your lips, use lip balm with SPF. During the summer especially, limit sun exposure between the hours of 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., when the sun is at its peak.

Lip Fillers: Lifestyle changes

Staying hydrated from within can help your skin look hydrated, and hydrated skin is youthful-looking skin. Drink plenty of water daily and even more water on hot days. Diet also plays a role. Eating a healthy and well-balanced diet can help your skin health. While exercise is generally good for you, it can make your body go through fillers and Botox more quickly. Avoid extreme facial expressions as much as you can. The more you move around a particular area of your face, the faster the filler or Botox dissipates.
