How long is expected to last an upper blepharoplasty?
Like many other plastic surgeries relating to skin, an upper blepharoplasty can be expected to last about 10-15 years before the patient may desire a touch-up surgery due to further aging of the skin.
Does an upper blepharoplasty change eye shape?
Yes and no. It doesn’t exactly change the essential shape of your eyes. If you had almond-shaped eyes before a blepharoplasty, for example, they’ll still be almond-shaped afterwards. However, a blepharoplasty does change the appearance of your eyes. If you have droopy eyelids, it can make you go from looking sleepy to looking more alert, and it can have an effect on your perceived age. It can also change eyelid shape, such as going from having hooded eyes to a shape where the eyelid is more visible. It depends on what you’re getting the blepharoplasty for, but it shouldn’t change the general shape of your eyes. As always, be sure to discuss expectations and desires with your surgeon beforehand.
How long is recovery from upper blepharoplasty?
The timeline for recovery involves several stages. In general, expect to have about 10 days of downtime after your surgery before heading back to work and other routine activities. However, it may take another week or two after that for swelling and bruising to subside. Full results are typically seen between four and six weeks after surgery, when any residual swelling fully resolves, and you can begin to enjoy your new look.
