Achieving “Fox Eyes” with an Eye Lift

Eye Lift

A natural part of aging is sagging skin, and sometimes the sagging skin affects the area around the eyes, resulting in droopy or sleepy-looking eyes. With the popularity of the “fox eye” or “foxy eyes,” many people turn to makeup to create the illusion using eyeliner or eyebrow makeup to make the eye appear angled upwards into a strong almond shape. Others however, opt for a longer-lasting solution such as an eye lift or blepharoplasty.

What is an Eye Lift?

Skin loses elasticity as we age, and one of the effects of this is sagging skin. Gravity pulls at the skin and when combined with the lack of elasticity, excess skin can collect around the eyes. Some use makeup such as eyeliner and contouring to give the illusion of younger looking eyes.

Fox eyes have come into vogue, which emphasize the length of the eye and its almond shape.

Although makeup can make a big difference, some don’t want to apply makeup every day to cover up or hide their puffy eyes and want something longer lasting. This is where an eye lift can be very beneficial.

An eye lift is a surgical procedure performed on the eyelids that removes excess skin from the upper eyelids and tissue from the lower eyelids.

This reduces bagginess and gives the appearance of fresher and younger looking eyes.

Although an eye lift won’t get rid of dark undereye circles or wrinkles, it can improve your appearance and give your self-esteem an extra boost.

If your upper eyelids are saggy, you can look tired, old, and unalert, and getting rid of the extra skin on the upper lids can make a dramatic difference. Depending on your specific circumstances, there are a few different types of eye lifts, though the upper eyelid is probably the most common. The second type of eye lift involves the lower lid below the eye, which can have puffy bags. By removing or manipulating the fat in this area, eyes look fresher and more alert.

Most eye lifts are relatively quick with only minimal swelling and bruising after the procedure. The procedure is usually done with local anesthetic as an outpatient procedure and patients can go home that very day.

If your eyes are causing you discomfort or a negative impact on your self-esteem, talk to your doctor about the possibility of an eye lift.
